Ava's Garden
Ava's Garden all came about due a very generous Lady and family friend called Tanya who owned a local gardening shop. Throughout our garden's creation we have purchased many items from Tanya who always looked after us with a healthy discount. During one particular visit to her store she offered us a cute statue that had fallen over in one of her displays and consequently snapped off an arm at the elbow. "Paul would be able to fix her easily" she said.
At first I hesitated but the minute I looked at the statues face it reminded me of our niece Ava. We adore Ava and knew she would definitely enhance our garden. I offered Tanya some money but she just gave us a dismissive little wave and her usual warm smile. We snapped up the offer, thanked her graciously and went home eager to mend our flute playing girl and named the garden accordingly.
Ava plays her flute under the shade of one of nine claret ash trees planted in a sweeping arch on the lower level of the front garden. The garden bed has an outer border of light purple common agapanthus, then Autumn joy sedums. All these plantings are like water ripples around Ava and make for a nice summer/autunm display.
In the winter after the leaves fall all around her giving the garden a nice layer of rich mulch, Ava seemingly coaxes up the plantings of gold/yellow jonquils and blue bells directly around her with her silent flute melody. I know that throughout the years she will continually encourage beauty in her garden.
